Today's gratitude: That most businesses closed due to Hurricane Sandy. For the many offers from friends and family to share their home with us if needed. Candles. Bottled water. Batteries Flash Lights Puzzles. Cards. A hot shower. Battery operated radios. Fully charged tablets.

That programs that had funding costs last year have had most of those cuts restored for the upcoming program year. 70 degree weather in late October. Watching Deer. The smell of firewood burning. Admiring other's Halloween and Fall decorations and decorative yards. Cleaning out and washing down the basement walkway. My husband coming home from a week long trip. TIP: The reduction in Social Security payroll taxes is scheduled to end this year (2012). Starting in 2013 your paycheck will be a little less because you will be paying more Social Security taxes each week.

Breakfast Buffets. Trip to Quincy Market. Cannoli's from the Italian section in Boston. Finding my box of contacts. Recipes for chili that call for stew beef instead of ground beef .

Things to be happy about: Old photographs. White eggplant (grew well in the garden this year). Quilts. Quilted jackets. The large marsh bird I saw and still can not identify. Spicy dip. Manchengo cheese. Bridges. White squirrels. Black squirrels.

Things to be happy about:

  Getting a new phone and getting to keep the old number. Dancing with a toddler. Lasagna. Having veggies chopped ahead of time to use the next day. Watching the Paper Man. Vintage Paperweights. Cut grass. Getting the last, but still more peppers from the garden. Hiking. Fall Foliage.

Things I have been grateful for this week:
